LongRun Raises Over $10,000 In Saddlecloth Auction

The LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society raised over $10,000 in the 2011 edition of the Queen's Plate saddlecloth auction. The fundraiser, which wrapped up this past Monday, had all 17 saddlecloths of the Queen's Plate starters auctioned on eBay to help provide Ontario's thoroughbreds with a dignified retirement.

Inglorious Outstanding In Queen's Plate Victory

Inglorious, the lone three-year-old Canadian-bred filly in the field, drew off favourite Check Your Soul in the stretch and cruised to a two and a half length victory in the 152nd running of the Queen's Plate at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto on Sunday Afternoon.

At The Post's Queen's Plate Selections

Field Set For 2011 Queen's Plate

The post position draw for the 2011 Queen's Plate took place Thursday morning at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto. Toronto Blue Jays General Manager, Alex Anthopoulos, was on hand to assist Woodbine Track Announcer, Dan Loiselle, in drawing the selection order. Here's how the field will leave the gate in Sunday's Queen's Plate:

The Queen's Plate Contenders: Wednesday Workout Report

Three Queen's Plate starters hit the track for their final preparations for Sunday's race on Wednesday morning. One Big Gator, Seawatch and Check Your Soul all breezed over Woodbine's main track, but all three worked different distances.

Queen's Plate Draw Set For Thursday

The draw for the 2011 Queen's Plate will take place on Thursday morning at Woodbine Racetrack. The draw will feature the unique draft style, where connections of the horses will select where they will start based on random draw. Toronto Blue Jays Senior Vice-President of Baseball Operations and General Manager, Alex Anthopoulos, has been selected as the honourary drawmaster for Thursday's proceedings.

The Queen's Plate Contenders: Tuesday Workout Report

Just one horse being considered for the 2011 Queen's Plate hit the track today for workouts. Pender Harbour, who will be ridden by former Woodbine rider Chantel Sutherland in the 152nd running of the Queen's Plate, breezed five furlongs earlier this morning.

After three Queen's Plate likely starters hit the workout track yesterday, another three hit the track today to prepare for the 152nd running of Canada's biggest race.

Queen's Plate Contenders Begin First Set Of Workouts

After Check Your Soul hit the track on Wednesday for his first workout since the Plate Trial, several other Queen's Plate contenders, including Woodbine Oaks winner Inglorious, followed suit in the past couple of days.

Check Your Soul Works For First Time Since Plate Trial Win

Check Your Soul hit to the track earlier this morning at Woodbine for his first workout since his three and one quarter length victory in the Plate Trial Stakes on June 5th. With rider Patrick Husbands aboard, Check Your Soul breezed five furlongs on Woodbine's polytrack.

Back To 12: Elite Alex Off Queen's Plate Trail

Bill Tallon of the Daily Racing Form has reported that Elite Alex has been withdrawn from Queen's Plate consideration. With Elite Alex off the trail, At The Post's list of Queen's Plate starters is now down  to 12.
